"What Is Windows Update?"
Windows Update is is a web site that you can go to, that will have updates you can download. These downloads help keep your system up-to-date by automatically downloading new devices drivers and programs to your computer. Now follow along and I will show you how to find this page.
#1) LEFT CLICK once on start. A screen will come up that looks like the one below.
#2) Go up the list and LEFT CLICK on Windows Update, as shown above. When you click on Windows Update your browser will open and will take you to a web page that looks like the one below.
#3) Go to the left of this page and click on Products Updates link. This will cause a window to pop up that will say PLEASE WAIT. What is happening here is your system is being checked to see what it has on it and then uses this information to let you know what you may need to update. You will get a screen that looks like the one below while this process is taking place. It may take up to several minutes for this to finish.
#4) You will then get a screen that looks like the one below. This is where you can view all the updates Windows has to download. If you would like to view what your system has already installed on it, click on the show installed updates button. Beside each update then you will be able to see if you have that update already installed.
#5)The screen below now shows you where you will click if you want to download the update you want. Then you will go up and click on the download button. Follow the instructions for that download.
What you will want to do here is make sure you have downloaded ALL the critical updates. These are very important. The rest you can be your own judge on whether you need or want them.
